“I never doubted it would happen”: Irina Alazova’s personal story
22-07-2026
In her new personal article, Irina Alazova, Founder and CEO of Mercury Group, shares her journey in real estate - not as a carefully planned career, but as a field that naturally became part of her life.
When I started working in real estate, I didn't know much, but I never doubted I'd succeed. I didn't understand all the legal nuances. I didn't understand all the complex transaction scenarios. I didn't know how the market would change or what crises I'd have to endure. But I understood one thing: if I'd already chosen this path, then I would continue to do so.
I guess it's my personality. I've never been one for a 10-to-5 office job. Managing my own time, my own decisions, and my own rhythm has always been important to me. Yes, there's no guaranteed stability in entrepreneurship. But for me, freedom has always been more important than predictability. Real estate gave me exactly that.
No two days are the same. No two clients are the same. No two deals are the same. Every property is a new challenge. Every client is a new story. Every deal is a new experience.
Of course, there were difficult periods. There were deals after which I just wanted to take a breather. There were moments of fatigue when I needed a couple of days to recover and gather my thoughts. But I never felt like real estate was "not my thing." I love this rhythm. I love communicating with people. I love the moment when a complex request gradually unfolds into the right solution. I love seeing how a deal that initially seemed difficult ultimately becomes clear, logical, and successful for the client. For me, real estate has long ceased to be just a job. It's a way of life. It's freedom. It's constant movement.
And this is a field in which I truly feel at home.
I never even thought about whether it would work out or not. I simply did what brought me joy.
